The bad and the good ..

Whether your past is a good thing or bad, it can hold you back if you dwell on it for too long. I know people who won well recognized awards and they never did anything after because they glued themselves to that one accomplishment. I know people who have life stories similar to the ones you see in a Bollywood movie and they stay so bitter and annoyed because of their past that they can’t move on.

“‘Let your past be stepping stones to your next success – not an anchor in which you think you have to stay'”.

It’s time to get over the past, no matter how good or bad, and start focusing on the future. You should be happy you have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly! As an individual your past helps you relate and connect to more people and it helps you make decisions today that will lead to a brighter future.

Here are a few ways I used to get through a past and concentrate on the bright future , thought I’d just share them with you beautiful people X

1.Ask yourself if you are being insane?
The definition of insane according to Albert Einstein is “Doing the same thing over and expecting different results.” Are you doing the same things to try and get over the past? Are you doing the same things that are keeping you stuck where you have been? What is something else you can try today to get you focused on the future and remind yourself to let it go (insert frozen theme song)
2.Drop the negative people in your life!
You become who you surround yourself by. If you are around negative people, you too will be negative. If you surround yourself with those who are focused on the past… guess what? You too will do the same. It’s time to find people who are ambitious, respect their past but look to find ways to improve their future. Who can you get rid of in your life who is holding you back? Sounds mean but you know who they are!
3.Focus on yourself first!
Sounds selfish? Good, it should! Until you take care of yourself, you can’t take care of anyone else. I see so many people trying to help others yet they forget about their own well-being and then end up getting hurt. What does the flight attendant tell you to do with your oxygen mask if the plane is going down? Put yours on first THEN help those next to you! The world is no good if you are no good so start focusing on yourself and how you can be stronger and get your mind focused on moving forward!
4.Find three quotes you like! Mine are
“Your love makes me stronger , your hate makes me unstoppable” – Cristiano Ronaldo

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever”- Mahatma Gandhi

“Focus your best hours on your biggest opportunities”- Robin Sharma

5.Write down a few good things that have come out of your past!
What good things have come from your past? Take a few minutes and write these down. Tell yourself “parts of my past are good and now it is time to move on to bigger and better things because the world needs more of what I have to offer.” There’s no stopping now !
Make sure to take time soon enough and if there is something in your past that has been holding you back, good or bad, start with taking it positively and then work on it with the 5 easy steps.
I really hope this inspires most you of out there !

Failure Opens the Doors to Success

It’s almost impossible to go through life without experiencing some kind of failure. Failure is a part of life; everyone has experienced failure at some time or other.

“Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even,” legendary boxer Muhammad Ali had once declared.

Yet today ,the greatest barrier to success and one of the biggest fears in life that people have is – fear of failure. It is also the major reason that holds back people from realizing their full potential and achieving their goals.

Fear of failure immobilizes you, restricts you to your comfort zone, prevents you from moving forward in life and hampers your chances of success.

Defeat is not easy to swallow. There is no worse feeling than facing failure. Failure leaves you bitter, miserable and depressed.

It is then not difficult to understand why most people are afraid of failing. They prefer to play it safe by restricting themselves to their comfort zone and avoiding any risks.

But playing it safe can also be risky. It puts you out of action. You choose to avoid potential opportunities and push yourself into mediocrity. When you restrict yourself to your cocoon, you keep yourself from tapping your full potential.

Failure is a matter of perspective. Many think failure as the opposite of success. But failures are in fact the stepping stones of success. Nothing worthwhile in life has ever been achieved without a series of failures. Failure is, as James Allen has rightly pointed out, one of the ‘pathways to attainment.’

Buckminster Fuller, the renowned American philosopher, architect, and inventor, popularly considered to be the father of American landscape architecture once said, “Whatever humans have learned had to be learned as a consequence only of trial and error experience. Humans have learned only through mistakes.”

Successful people also make mistakes. They also fail but they don’t give up. Instead they remain steadfast. They overcome their fear of failure and are quick to learn from their mistakes.

There are numerous examples of celebrities, sportspersons, actors, authors and leaders who inspite of facing defeat did not give up on their dreams. They succeeded in overcoming their fear of failure.

Michael Jordan was cut from the school basketball team; Steve Jobs was fired from his own company; Warren Buffet was rejected by Harvard University, Richard Branson is a high school dropout, Abraham Lincoln lost eight elections and Thomas Edison, failed more than 1,000 times when trying to create the light bulb.

Failure did not keep these great people away from achieving their goals and becoming extra-ordinarily successful.

Overcoming fear of failure is a major factor toward the achievement of goals. The highly successful people are not the most intelligent, most gifted or blessed.

They are just ordinary people who view failures as temporary speed breakers on the road to success. They are successful because they have developed the skill of learning from their mistakes and are willing to move out of their comfort zone and take calculated risks.

When you try, there is no guarantee that you will succeed. But if you don’t try, you are sure to fail.

So don’t let fear of failure hold you back from reaching out for your goals. The key to success is not avoiding failure but to overcome the fear of failure; learn from your failures and use them to build yourself up.

“Failure should be our teacher not our undertaker.Failure is delay not defeat. It is temporary detour not a dead end.”

One failure may just be the door to one hundred successes .

With the results week just put behind us , some of us passed some of us did not but that doesn’t mean the ones who passed are superior . Learn from your failures do not cry over them .

This blog is slightly personal as I failed my year 10s really badly and almost gave up , yes I could have given up but I didn’t ! And here I am today stronger than ever , with amazing grades at my O’ levels ! Believe in yourself !

Respect-not such a minor issue !

Respect means a lot of different things for different people. It includes taking someone’s feelings, needs, thoughts, ideas, wishes and preferences into consideration. It also means taking all of these seriously and giving them worth and value.

Behavior
Respect can be shown through behavior and it can also be felt. We can act in ways which are considered respectful, yet we can also feel respect for someone and feel respected by someone. Because it is possible to act in ways that do not reflect how we really feel, the feeling of respect is more important than the behavior without the feeling. When the feeling is there, the behavior will naturally follow.
Survival
Going back in time, respect played an important role in survival. If we think of a small tribe wandering in the desert we can imagine that a person not respected by anyone could be left behind and die. Such a person was considered to have no worth, no importance, no value to the group.
Changing values
Nowadays it seems much more possible- to survive without being respected. Someone could, for example, inherit a large sum of money, have many servants and employees and have salesmen constantly calling on him and catering to him, yet not be respected in the least. Someone could also make a lot of money through having a particular talent which is valued, such as being able to dunk a basketball yet not really be respected, perhaps because of the way he treats others.
Importance
When we are respected we gain the voluntary cooperation of people. We don’t have to use as much of our energy and resources trying to get our needs met. When people respect one another there are fewer conflicts.
In summary, it is for both evolutionary and practical reasons that respect is important, and also why we simply feel better when we are respected.
Respect seems to be like a boomerang in the sense that you must send it out before it will come back to you. Respect cannot be demanded or forced, though sometimes people mistakenly believe that it can be commanded.

Showing and Earning

If respecting someone means respecting their feelings and their survival needs, then if a person does not respect your feelings, they don’t respect you. If those in positions of power and authority do not respect your needs and feelings, they will not earn your respect.

“Respect other people’s feelings. Even if it doesn’t mean anything to you, it might mean everything to them.”

Complexions and Perspectives

Hello there beautiful people ! This is my first post and this has been an extremely shadowing issue throughout my life and hence I chose to write about it as a first . Hope it inspires you ! X

My experience..

Ever since the first time I breathed the air of this interesting world , I was discriminated solely because of how I looked as a one hour old baby . It’s been years and years , and well it still continues. The only thing that has changed is my perspective and how I chose to look at it .

**The smallest change in perspective can transform a life, what tiny attitude adjustment might turn your world around ? **

The change…

I live by these meaningful words each day. Yes the discrimination still continues but the way I accept it changed and here’s how :

When I was much younger I would just lay on my bed and cry and cry and cry without thinking of how much damage I was causing to myself. As I grew older I begun to accept myself for who I am and BAM! Everything changed.

No matter what the world thinks of you , you have to fully accept yourself the way you look to the way you think . It’s all you ! Every moment is yours ! Every breath too so make the most of it !

We don’t shame flowers for being too big or too small, too short or too tall, too pink or too red, we just embrace them for their unique beauty…why don’t we start doing that to ourselves, for ourselves ? Don’t you think the world would be much friendlier if that’s how each of us thought ?

I know I’m not alone in the battle of ‘complexion discrimination’ and I hope this inspires you to accept and love yourself for who you are !

YES YOU ARE THE BEST !

Take care of your beautiful selves !       Be Inspired ! XX
